Exhibition Text
What I want to show is the emotion and hardship that many kids unfortunately have to go through in life. Abuse is something that no one should have to go though and this can really affect the way that one goes on to live the rest of their lives.
~INSPIRATION~
Vincent Van Gogh
|
Since I am not doing a painting I was not able to do the exact same techniques that were done in both of Van Gogh's works. In, Peasant Woman Against a Background of Wheat, there were thick amounts of paint placed on the canvas. Creating texture that the viewer will be able to see. I took inspiration from the look of this piece but wanted to girl it a more modern look. Instead of giving the girl a big hat she's wearing a beanie. And rather than the wheat and poppy flowers being togetther i seperated them and place d them on the vanity drawers and mirror.

In my work I wanted to include things that helped to capture the innocence of a child.

~THEME~
My theme is Growing up.
The way that these artists influence my work is through both technique and emotion, being the message that they are trying to get across. For, Vincent Van Gogh the artwork that I chose inspiration from are not for the message behind it but for the technique. There is not a story to them that deals with growing up or the struggle of abuse.
But, for the second artist that is unknow they have a great message that comes from this piece. It is able to be seent he story of a little girl who has been a victim of their innocence being taken advantage of.

~PROCESS~
Experimentation
Since the ink will be pressed into the lines, I knew I needed to put a good amount of ink through out the plate. The first print that I did I forgot the wipe off the excess ink off of the white areas. Then the second test print that I did, I remembered to wipe away the excess ink, and I wanted to see how things were going. The folowing prints are the ones I did until I got a print that I was satisfied with.

This is how the final print turned out.
