Exhibition text
What I want to show is the openness and closeness of people. In everyday life no one person is really the same. The openness meaning, welcoming. How for some people it's really easy for those people to open up. While the closeness signifies, people who are more reserved. It can also be referred to as extrovertness and introvertness.
INSPIRATION
Nicholas Harding
John Olsen AO, OBE |
Nicholas Harding is an Australian artist who does many paintings and drawings.

The picture to the left shows a painting with a person in it which helps give that feeling to the piece. I will not include that in my work. In the drawings that I am doing I want the couch to represent the person who sits in it. To tell the story of the person through this pieces of furniture.
Michelangelo

Michelangelo is an artist who created several paintings and sculptures over the years with great technique.

Relating to My Theme
The theme that I have throughout this process is growing up. For many of us this means different things and even brings back memories. We begin to almost relive what, "those days" were like.
What my work here revolves around is this idea and feeling of welcoming and reserved; Introverted and extroverted to an extent.
For me growing up brings me back to when I was a kid hanging-out with friends and family all the time. In this case this is true for many people, but not everyone can say this. Which is something that I can also somewhat relate to.
As a kid I was someone who people said was, always "happy." Or at least for them this meant that, they always saw me talking to everyone, constant smiles. But eventually this slowly changed. As time progressed I just began keeping more to myself not being so expressive. Though I am no longer that quiet I still am a little.
There are people can relate to this but still have a very rough time opening up. All of this is what I wanted to show in this illustration.

Techniques
The technique to the left shows the process that I went through to get results I wanted. On the photo to the left, and on the bottom of the left arm of the chair it shows how I began with a darker shade (Burnt Sienna) at the bottom. Then I would go back in with a lighter shade to get the look that I was going for.
